Dark Romance: Part 2

Inspiring images from the dark romance period:

Hubert Robert (22 May 1733 – 15 April 1808), was a French painter, noted for his landscape paintings and picturesque depictions of ruins.

William Blake (28 November 1757 – 12 August 1827) was an English poet, painter, and printmaker

Dark Romance: Part 1

My absolute favorite time period is the Dark Romance times ranging from (some say) 1770's until the 1840's.

The way these scholars and artists beautifully applied language and creativity to art and literature created some of the most disturbingly wonderful works known today. "The tales and poems commonly feature outcasts from society, personal torment and uncertainty as to whether the nature of man will bring him salvation or destruction." "The Dark Romantics adapted images of anthropomorphized evil in the form of Satan, devils, ghosts, werewolves, vampires, and ghouls."
